Seeking the Shade
Seeking the Shade
$450.00
This is finished in resin to maintain the colours and also to protect it.
The work is inspired by the deer itself, having spotted one within Epping forest while driving past in Essex UK. I later thought of the trophy head often seen mounted on a wall hinting at death. However, I wanted to use the idea but to hint at life by conjuring up a time of the day in which the deer existed and reflect that onto the surface. With this piece, it is a hot afternoon. The red colour of the antlers symbolises the heat and the face is a pattern painted with colours hinting at coolness found among the shaded areas of the forest.
This sculpture is ready for mounting on a wall. It is signed on the reverse of the mount.
